What’s New?

  • Advanced search improvements: Searching just got easier! Now, you can use partial keywords in fields like Organization and Function to find what you need faster.

  • Organization customizationYou can now set up predefined organizations in user profiles, while members can still add their own organization names.

  • Group duplication: You can now easily create a copy of an entire group and its contents via Group Management > Duplicate Group. In addition, the Group Templates feature should feel much more robust.

  • Accessibility WCAG 2.2 improvements: We're committed to inclusivity. For example, UI elements now meet WCAG 2.2 minimum size standards (24px × 24px), ensuring a more user-friendly experience for everyone. 

Additional Enhancements and Bug Fixes

  • WCAG2.2: In the Accessibility mode, the top menu now scrolls along with the page, rather than stay on top in the browser window. This ensures focused elements are always visible. Additionally, various other accessibility enhancements have been implemented.

  • On domains where members are restricted from changing their email addresses, user profiles now indicate that only Webmasters have this privilege.

  • The email that is sent if an occurrence of a repeating appointment is cancelled has a clear subject.

  • Issues with capitalization in tags have been rectified. 

  • The ability to remove lengthy tags has been restored.

  • Fixed the issue of not being able to remove very long tags.

  • In the events widget, recurring appointments now display the instance date instead of the creation date.

  • A problem is fixed where in some cases deactivated members would still receive push notifications.

  • Fixed some problems with the member import.

  • Performance improvements on the Groups page.

  • An issue where the calendar occasionally displayed the incorrect week has been resolved.

  • Fixed a problem with the member limit for events not working in some rare cases.

  • Fixed a bug where uploaded images would be incorrectly cropped in specific cases.

  • Fixed a bug in "Members can unsubscribe from private groups" functionality.

  • Enhanced Archiving Experience for Groups
    Archiving groups is now smoother and faster. You are also able to archive very large groups.

  • Hide Author on Pages
    Introducing the ability to hide the author on Pages. Whether it's for pages with general text or those maintained by a team of authors, you now have the flexibility to tailor the presentation to your preferences.

  • Calendar Widget Improvements
    The calendar widget has been enhanced to provide you with an overview of active date pickers, streamlining your scheduling and planning processes.

  • Bulk Permission Management: Group managers now have the ability to swiftly edit the permissions of all group members through the 'Modify permissions in bulk' option.

  • In document version history we now display both the version number and version name.

  • The RSS widget now accommodates up to 99 entries, dynamically adjusting based on the available feed content

  • Webmasters can now designate specific recipients for reported content, allowing for more targeted and efficient handling of reports.

  • The Expertise dropdown in the Search feature is now categorized per label, simplifying the process of finding relevant expertise.

  • Improvements to the Search functionality for finding members

  • The response module for unpublished news articles has been disabled to prevent inadvertent responses by the news team.

  • An issue where some deactivated members were still receiving push notifications has been rectified.

  • The calendar list view on responsive devices has been extended from 7 days to 1 month for enhanced planning and scheduling.

  • Corrected display discrepancies in the birthday widget related to different time zones.

  • Item filter widgets of open groups are now accessible to all users, not solely restricted to group members.

Calendar improvements, Favorites search and more...

Calendar

  • Add appointments to your Outlook or other calendar applications by utilizing the new “Download to your calendar” option from the Actions menu. This will download an .ICS file that can be opened in your calendar app of choice.

  • The Calendar tooltip (on the desktop) now conveniently shows the Start and End times of appointments.

  • The Calendar List view now shows appointments for the entire month instead of one week.

  • Deep linking to specific views and periods in the calendar is available again.

  • The Events widget can now be displayed in the accent color of the platform.

  • Also bug has been fixed where in some cases, the Events widget would not show all events.

  • If you receive a calendar invitation that has an attachment to it, it's now more clearly mentioned in the body text of that invitation.

Favorites

  • Your Favorite items can now finally be filtered and sorted, and you can also search within them. It's now easier than ever to find exactly the bookmarked Favorite you need!

Images

  • Webp and Heic image types are now fully supported including previews of images.

  • Webmasters now have the option to enable custom profile fields to be shown in the member search option for easy filtering.

  • You are now able to rename the "Job Title" field in the profile.

  • On mobile, you can now easily navigate to your Preferences from the Platform menu (top right).

  • Outlook and Sharepoint widgets are renamed to MS Outlook and MS Sharepoint respectively.

  • In the Shortcuts widget, port numbers are now allowed.

  • Webmasters with platforms with SAML login are now able to change the email address of a user.

  • Customers that have SSO enabled, now are offered the choice of whether to display an activation link in the invitation mail for new members.

Bugfixes

  • A bug has been fixed where in rare cases a document would not be indexed for the Search functionality.

  • A bug has been fixed where clicking on a link from the morning mail would not show the page, on SAML platforms.

  • In rare cases, it was possible that a deactivated member would still receive push notifications on certain items. This has been fixed.

  • A bug has been fixed where the chat manager would be shown twice after updating the chat manager role

  • A bug has been fixed where sometimes a member would get a "400 bad request" message.

  • A bug has been fixed with downloading files with multiple dots inside the name.

  • An issue has been addressed, ensuring that groups that haven't received new content recently will now be properly listed on the All Groups page.

  • A bug has been fixed where events that are copied would omit images from the body text.

  • Some rich text editor issues have been fixed in the Survey functionality.

  • A bug has been fixed where sometimes items could not be moved into a sub-folder.

Android app update

Bug fixes

We have just released an update to our Android app. This new version offers better overall performance for a better user experience. The delivery of push notifications was also improved. Futher more, we have resolved some issues affecting older Android phones.

The iOS app will be updated with the next few weeks also.

  • A bug has been fixed where activity emails would sometimes not be sent.

  • A bug is fixed where in some situations an appointment would not be correctly saved.

  • Appointment emails: we kept ‘cancelled' as a prefix, but made ‘updated’ a postfix. We removed the capitalisation and put 'updated' in parentheses.

  • A bug has been fixed where the Events widget would sometimes not show the correct number of events or would omit the 'show more' link.

  • In forms, now all users that have access can bulk export forms, not only webmasters.

  • A problem has been fixed where photos of news articles and in other sections would sometimes not be correctly resized. Please re-upload the image, if it was not resized correctly.

  • A bug has been fixed where clicking a Tag in a News article would not show results.

  • It's now possible in forms to select forms for bulk export to XLS or PDF

Mentions

  • There is now a new option "Members can use @groupname to mention all members in that group" under Setup > Groups > Settings. This specifies if this behaviour is allowed or not on a platform.
    💡Important: This option is switched on by default, and when switched on, you can now send a mention to large groups (>200 members). This was not possible in the past. If you don’t want members to mention large groups, turn off this checkbox.

New Translation option

  • Viadesk now offers a translation option when reading News articles or Pages. A link will be present to translate the contents into the language that the member uses. if you are interested in this option, please contact Support or your account manager.

New Content Reporting Option

  • Viadesk now allows members to report illegal or explicit content in items from the Actions menu. Webmasters will then receive an email in which the member explains the reason for the report. They can then decide whether to take action.

Shortcut widget

  • The Shortcuts widget now allows you to specify whether each link should open in the same tab or a new one.

  • A bug is fixed in the Shortcuts widget, where sometimes URLs with more than one dash would be rejected

Events

  • Fixed a bug where Event participants would sometimes not be shown in alphabetical order.

  • Events: The counting of external attendees in the Calendar tooltips of events has been improved

  • You now have the option to rename Tags under Setup > Metadata

  • In your profile, it's now possible to include notes or supplementary information to your weekly availability overview.

  • Icons in Viadesk have a more modern look and subtle improvements

  • With the name change of Twitter to 𝕏, the label in Viadesk is changed to 'X (Twitter)'. The icon has been updated to their new 𝕏 logo, likewise if you share an 𝕏 post to Viadesk

Enhancements

  • Webmasters now have the ability to set a specific deactivation date for members. On the specified date, the member will be automatically deactivated. Go to Setup > Members > Deactivate members automatically

  • Privacy-conscious organizations can now disable the Members section in Search results under Setup > General > Settings

  • If you’re a member of more than one Viadesk platform, you can now switch between them with ease. Just find the platform switcher in your account menu.

  • You can now easily copy pages within the same group or to other open groups.

  • Invitations for appointments now include convenient links to join Teams and Zoom meetings.

  • In the Member Import feature, you now have the option to remove values from member profiles if they are blank.

  • When using Single Sign-On, a logout option is now available.

  • The Shortcuts widget now has a more user-friendly layout when editing it.

  • The Forms functionality now supports document uploads up to 10MB, an increase from the previous limit of 3MB.

Bug Fixes

  • Addressed a bug where the Events widget occasionally failed to show all events.

  • Long-named file attachments in emails are automatically shortened, but their original names will now be displayed.

  • Fixed a bug where poll results would sometimes incorrectly add up to 99% instead of 100%.

  • Improvements have been made to the Excel export feature for surveys.

  • When downloading a file item with diacritics in its name, the diacritics were previously removed. This issue has been resolved, and the downloaded file will now retain its original name.

  • Users will now receive clearer warnings when attempting to archive a group that is too large.

  • Various security and performance improvements have been implemented.

  • You now have the option to copy Pages and Surveys, using the Copy option in the Actions menu.

  • A fix for an issue where, in certain cases, the "Item Move" option was not functioning properly, preventing users from moving items.
